During its session on November 7, the Armenian government imposed a temporary six-month ban on the export of scrap metal, including ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This decision aims to support local production, ensure stable raw material supplies, and encourage new investments in the manufacturing sector.
In recent years, rising prices for ferrous and non-ferrous metals have driven up export levels. Similar restrictions have also been applied by other EEU countries to protect their local production.
This measure will allow local manufacturers access to affordable raw materials, reduce production costs, and maintain competitiveness in the market. The decision is expected to stimulate economic growth and stabilize the supply chain within Armenia.
The ban also aims to shield Armenia’s economy from disproportionate prices on the international market that hinder local production growth.
