Earthquake Near Jermuk Felt Across Neighboring Regions

On January 6, at 5:28 PM local time, the seismic network of the Territorial Service for Seismic Protection of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs recorded an earthquake 22 kilometers northwest of Jermuk. The earthquake’s hypocenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers, with a magnitude of 3.1.

The epicentral zone recorded an intensity of 4 on the MSK scale. The earthquake was felt in the Vayots Dzor Province with an intensity of 2-4, as well as in Sisian in the Syunik Province and Vardenis in the Gegharkunik Province, with an intensity of 2-3.

No reports of casualties or material damage have been received at this time.

The Ministry’s Rescue Service issued a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety rules during earthquakes to minimize potential risks. The service stated that additional updates would be provided if necessary.
