Strategic Expansion in Aviation
Nigerian airline Air Peace has announced a significant expansion of its international operations following approval from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). According to ANAC Ordinance No. 19.449/2026, the carrier is now authorized to operate scheduled passenger, cargo, and mail services between Nigeria and Brazil.
This new route is expected to reduce travel time between the two nations from approximately two days, which previously required multiple stopovers, to roughly seven hours. Industry observers suggest that this direct connectivity will likely stimulate tourism, trade, and investment while strengthening people-to-people exchanges across the South Atlantic region.
Barbados as a Key Destination
As Air Peace scales its operations, it continues to maintain a robust international network. Barbados remains a cornerstone of this strategy, serving as one of the airline’s key international destinations. The island nation plays a critical role in the carrier’s current reach, which also includes cities across West Africa and major global hubs.
Beyond the Brazil route, the airline is actively pursuing further growth, having applied for landing rights in Toronto and New York. Arrangements are also being finalized to resume flights to Jeddah and Guangzhou, while new regional services to cities such as Libreville, Conakry, Bamako, and Douala are scheduled to commence on August 1.
