Apple officially unveiled a standalone Siri application as part of the iOS 27 update announced at WWDC 2026 on June 14. This move marks a significant departure from Siri’s historical role as a transient voice-command utility, transitioning it into a persistent, conversational AI chatbot.
The new application offers a centralized chat interface that syncs across the Apple ecosystem, including macOS, iPadOS, and visionOS via iCloud. Unlike previous versions, the new Siri AI is designed to maintain conversational context, allowing users to revisit past interactions and build workflows that span multiple native applications.
Functional Capabilities and Integration
The core of the update lies in its deep integration with Apple Intelligence. Key features include:
- Personal Context Understanding: The AI can now pull data from emails, messages, notes, and calendars to provide answers based on the user’s specific history.
- On-Screen Awareness: Siri can analyze content currently displayed on the user’s screen, enabling it to act on information like addresses, web summaries, or message replies.

Strategic Stakes and Hardware Compatibility
