A tragic incident occurred in Ararat Province on January 13, resulting in the death of Mher Sahakyan, a member of the National Assembly’s “Armenia” faction. His Hyundai Accord vehicle reportedly plunged approximately 700-800 meters into a ravine on the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Meghri highway near the Tigranashen curves. The car was completely destroyed in the accident.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs Rescue Service received an emergency call around 4:30 PM. A firefighting and rescue unit from Vedi was dispatched to the scene, where rescuers discovered a male body inside the wrecked vehicle. The deceased was later identified as Mher Sahakyan, who had been missing since the previous day.
Law enforcement officials, including Saribek Rustamyan, Head of the Ararat Regional Criminal Police Department, and officers from the Patrol Service, were present at the scene to conduct investigations. Due to the challenging terrain, it took rescue workers nearly two hours to recover the body, which they transported on foot to the nearest accessible location.
