Armenia Refutes Azerbaijan’s Border Firing Claim (April 9, 2025)

Yerevan, Armenia – The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has issued a statement firmly denying allegations made by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan regarding an alleged incident on the northeastern part of the border zone. The Azerbaijani side claimed that on April 9, 2025, at approximately 23:50 local time, Armenian Armed Forces units opened fire on their positions.

Yerevan Denies Baku’s Disinformation Allegations

In an official statement released on April 10, 2025, at 09:50 Yerevan time, the Armenian Defense Ministry characterized the Azerbaijani report as “disinformation.” Yerevan maintains that the claim of Armenian forces initiating fire is baseless and does not correspond to reality.

Armenia Proposes Joint Mechanism to Investigate Ceasefire Violations

The Armenian Defense Ministry’s statement also reiterated a standing proposal from the Armenian Prime Minister’s office. This proposal calls for the establishment of a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism dedicated to investigating instances of ceasefire regime violations and any related information from either side.
