On December 23-24, a delegation from Georgia’s Defense Institution Building School, led by Deputy Director Nikoloz Melkadze, visited Armenia as part of the “Defense and Security Senior Program.” The visit facilitated discussions on the future of defense collaboration between Armenia and Georgia.
At the Armenian Ministry of Defense headquarters, the delegation was welcomed by Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Department for Defense Policy and International Cooperation. Discussions focused on the reforms underway in Armenia’s defense sector and the potential for deepening bilateral cooperation in defense and security.
The delegation also visited Armenia’s National Defense Research University (NDRU), where Major General Albert Baghdadyan, the university’s head, delivered a presentation on its activities. Participants in the “Defense and Security Senior Program” engaged in a dynamic Q&A session with NDRU faculty, fostering knowledge-sharing and collaborative dialogue between the two nations’ defense education institutions.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a cooperation memorandum between Armenia’s National Defense Research University and Georgia’s Defense Institution Building School. This landmark agreement marks the first formalized partnership between the defense education institutions of the two countries and opens new avenues for collaboration in defense and security training.
