Amid escalating clashes in Aleppo, which has come under opposition control, Armenia’s Consul General has temporarily relocated to Damascus to continue his duties. According to “Gandzasar” news, the Armenian humanitarian team and the Consul General left Aleppo before the onset of the clashes.

The Armenian community in Aleppo expressed concerns about not being informed beforehand about the departure of the Consul General and humanitarian team. However, the Consul General later clarified to community representatives that his departure to Damascus was to present his credentials, and subsequent road closures prevented his return to Aleppo. He assured that he is continuing his work remotely from Damascus.

Even during the height of the Syrian crisis, Armenia’s Consulate in Aleppo maintained close cooperation with the Armenian community in the city. In this challenging period, as in previous years, the Consulate and the community are collaborating on critical efforts to address the community’s needs, ensure its safety, and support its survival.

For the Armenian community in Aleppo, the activities of Armenia’s Consulate remain a vital source of humanitarian and diplomatic support, offering both reassurance and tangible assistance during these uncertain times.
