Malkhas Amoyan Crowned Four-Time European Champion

Armenian wrestler Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) has once again proven his dominance on the European stage by winning the gold medal at the European Wrestling Championship held in Slovakia. This victory marks his fourth European Championship title. Amoyan demonstrated his prowess in the final match, securing a confident 3:1 victory over Ramaz Zoidze of Georgia.

Amoyan’s journey to the gold medal began in the 1/8 finals where he quickly defeated Mateusz Bernatek of Poland, a former world and European vice-champion, with a score of 9:0. In the quarterfinals, he triumphed over Alexandr Solovei of Moldova with a 7:2 score, followed by a 5:1 victory against Hayk Mnatsakanyan of Bulgaria in the semifinals.

Karen Aslanyan Takes Silver Medal

Another notable achievement for Armenia came from Karen Aslanyan (63 kg), who won the silver medal at the championship. After a hard-fought final, Aslanyan conceded the gold to Kerem Kamal of Turkey. Aslanyan started his competition in the quarterfinals, where he impressively defeated Mairbek Salimov of Poland with an 8:0 victory in just 30 seconds. He continued his strong performance in the semifinals, securing another early victory with an 8:0 score against Andrey Semenchuk of Ukraine.

Manvel Khachatryan Falls Short in Bronze Medal Match

Manvel Khachatryan (55 kg), representing Armenia in the Greco-Roman style, competed for a bronze medal but was defeated by Vakhtang Loluashvili of Georgia with a score of 1:3 in the decisive bout.

Artur Aleksanyan Out of Bronze Medal Match Due to Injury

While initially set to compete for a bronze medal in the 97 kg category, Olympic gold, two-time silver, and bronze medalist, four-time world champion and seven-time European champion Artur Aleksanyan will not participate due to an injury sustained during his semifinal loss to Kiril Milov of Bulgaria (1:2). Aleksanyan had previously defeated Richard Karelson of Estonia (5:1) and Nikolos Kakhelashvili of Italy (5:2) in earlier rounds.
