As the region continues to navigate significant challenges, the Government of Armenia has unveiled a renewed social support initiative tailored for the citizens of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh). Announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, this updated program, effective from January 2025, aims to ensure financial stability and address the immediate needs of vulnerable groups within the Artsakh community.
The monthly social support amount for January to March 2025 is set at 50,000 AMD, offering critical relief to thousands of residents. This initiative represents a continuation of the 2024 program, which provided 40,000 AMD in general aid, with an additional 10,000 AMD component for specific categories. However, under the new structure, the 10,000 AMD supplementary aid for individuals owning property in Armenia has been discontinued to streamline assistance efforts.
Beneficiaries who participated in the 2024 40,000+10,000 AMD support program are automatically enrolled in the 2025 initiative, negating the need for new applications. This seamless transition underscores the Ministry’s commitment to reducing administrative burdens while ensuring uninterrupted access to essential support.
From April to June 2025, the support amount will be 40,000 AMD, specifically targeting:
-Children under 18 years old or individuals over 18 engaged in compulsory education.
-Seniors aged 63 and above.
-Persons with disabilities (Groups 1 and 2) or those who have lost their primary breadwinner.
For the second half of the year, from July to December 2025, the assistance will continue at 30,000 AMD for these vulnerable groups. This phased approach reflects the government’s ongoing evaluation of the program’s effectiveness and its alignment with the evolving needs of Artsakh’s population. By prioritizing vulnerable demographics, including children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, the program ensures a focused allocation of resources to those most in need.
