Severe weather conditions, including snow and ice, have left several roads across Armenia closed or difficult to pass. In Aragatsotn Province, the road leading to the “Amberd” high-altitude meteorological station and Kari Lake remains closed. The Vardenyats Pass is challenging for all vehicles, with trailer trucks requiring snow chains to navigate.
The Spitak bends and Stepanavan-Vanadzor and Vanadzor-Dilijan roads are particularly difficult for trailer trucks. Heavy snowfall has been reported in areas such as Tsilkar Village, the Vardenyats Pass, and villages including Lanjanist, Lusahogh, and Lanjarr, as well as in the Saravan-“Zanger” and “Meghri Sar” sections. Ice has been detected in parts of Syunik Province and the Yerevan-Sevan highway.
Fog is affecting visibility in Ararat Province and along the Yerevan-Sevan highway. The Emergency Service strongly advises drivers to use winter tires to ensure their safety and that of others on the road.
According to information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Russia’s North Ossetia Emergency Management Center, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open to all types of vehicles.
