The Chiefs of Staff of the Armenian and French Armed Forces met in Brussels to discuss ways to deepen defense cooperation. This was announced by French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies on his X microblog.

According to the ambassador, France remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Armenia, particularly amid regional security challenges. He emphasized that defense cooperation plays a crucial role in ensuring stability.

The ambassador also highlighted the significance of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMA) in the region, particularly along the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line:

“European observers help to establish incidents, dispel fake news, and reassure vulnerable populations in the exposed areas along the military contact line with Azerbaijan.”

Decottignies further commended the dedication of the EUMA personnel, noting their critical role in supporting peace and security in the region.

In recent years, France has intensified its support for Armenia, especially in the aftermath of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War and subsequent tensions. The deepening defense cooperation between the two countries underscores France’s commitment to bolstering Armenia’s security.
