The spokesperson for the Yerevan Mayor’s Office announced that according to Article 66, Clause 1 of the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen, soldiers in Armenia are entitled to free use of all types of urban public transport, regardless of ownership, except for taxis.

Additionally, Kostanyan informed that during the upcoming Yerevan City Council session on November 19, a proposal will be discussed to expand transport benefits to families of soldiers who died, went missing, or were declared deceased during military operations in Armenia or Artsakh. Under this proposal, family members, including widows, underage children, and parents, will be able to use intra-community bus services operated by 100% municipally-owned companies in Yerevan free of charge.

This initiative highlights the government and municipality’s support for servicemen and their families, ensuring better access to public transportation. The benefit is not limited by time or geography within the municipality, easing mobility for eligible individuals.
