Google has introduced “Recall,” a new feature for Gemini that allows the AI assistant to access and summarize past conversations. Users can now simply ask Gemini to summarize earlier chats, and the AI will provide a concise overview, complete with clickable links to the original conversations. This eliminates the need for manual scrolling or searching through chat history, making it easy to revisit and reference previous interactions. A similar feature is reportedly in development for ChatGPT, although no official release date has been announced, with speculation pointing towards a potential launch next year.

The Recall feature is particularly beneficial for Gemini, enabling it to leverage a broader Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) scope. By readily accessing and summarizing past exchanges, Gemini can better understand the context of user queries and deliver more relevant and tailored responses. This enhanced memory allows the AI to draw on a richer history of interactions, similar to how humans use past experiences to inform current understanding and problem-solving. This improved contextual awareness can lead to more accurate and insightful assistance.

In a separate but related development, Google has informed advanced Gemini subscribers about upcoming enhancements to Gemini Live. A new version of Gemini Live is expected to be released soon, featuring an updated model designed to make conversations more natural and human-like, akin to ChatGPT’s advanced mode. Google also plans to introduce vision capabilities, including camera access and screen sharing. These features were initially outlined as part of the Project Astra updates, initially targeted for release in 2025. However, the rollout has not yet been confirmed, and users are eagerly awaiting further details.

Gemini is Google’s advanced AI assistant, designed to help users with a variety of tasks, including writing, planning, and learning. It offers a conversational interface, allowing for natural and free-flowing dialogues. Features like Gemini Live facilitate real-time interactions, making it a versatile tool for various applications.

Gemini Live enhances the user experience by enabling natural conversations in up to two languages. Users can interrupt or add to the conversation, similar to human interactions, creating a more dynamic and engaging experience. Future updates aim to include screen sharing and live video support, further expanding Gemini’s capabilities. These continued advancements highlight the rapid progress in AI technology and provide users with increasingly powerful and sophisticated tools.
