Erling Haaland, with his extraordinary goal-scoring prowess, has set another milestone, surpassing the 250-goal mark in professional football. This achievement occurred during a match for Manchester City against Arsenal. Notably, he reached this milestone in just 297 games, demonstrating an incredible average of 0.84 goals per game.
Haaland’s professional career began at the age of 15 with Norwegian second-division side Bryne. His natural talent quickly became apparent. At 16, he transferred to his second club, Molde, where he scored on his debut. During his time at Molde, he made 50 appearances and scored 20 goals before leaving Norway to join RB Salzburg in January 2019. Haaland scored his first goal for Salzburg in his fifth official match, but after a slow start, he exploded onto the scene the following season, attracting attention from top European clubs with memorable Champions League performances.
Having scored 8 goals in 6 games in the elite European tournament, German giants Borussia Dortmund wasted no time in acquiring the then-19-year-old during the winter transfer market. Haaland’s brief spell at Salzburg concluded with an impressive tally of 29 goals from 27 appearances.
Haaland arrived at Borussia Dortmund in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this did not hinder his progress. He scored a hat-trick in his first official game for ‘Die Schwarzgelben’. His impressive form continued, scoring 8 goals in his first 4 games and later reaching his 12th goal in his 8th game for the Bundesliga side.
It was inevitable that Haaland’s time at Signal Iduna Park would be short-lived. The Norway international completed only two full seasons at Dortmund before Manchester City triggered his release clause to bring him to the Etihad, ending his stay in Germany with 86 goals from 89 appearances.
Since July 30, 2022, the date of his debut with the Citizens, Erling Haaland has been a relentless goal-scoring machine. His first official goal for Pep Guardiola’s side came on August 7, on matchday one of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign against West Ham. Haaland found the back of the net at the London Stadium in the 36th minute, scoring a brace before full-time. In just over two seasons with the English side, Haaland has scored 115 goals in 130 appearances.
With his 250th goal, Haaland has now scored in 152 different matches in his career. He has 49 braces, 16 hat-tricks, 3 four-goal hauls, and 2 five-goal hauls to his name. His favorite opponent is RB Leipzig, against whom he has scored 12 times. Following the German side are West Ham (9), Wolves (8), and Bayern Munich (7).
