SANAA (Azat TV) – Yemen’s Houthi-aligned armed forces have issued a comprehensive statement detailing their stance on recent U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran and outlining specific conditions that would prompt their direct military intervention in the ongoing regional conflict. The statement, released on March 27, 2026, from Sanaa, emphasizes the Houthis’ religious and moral responsibility in the face of perceived aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the broader “axis of jihad and resistance.”
Houthi Stance on Regional Aggression
The Yemeni Armed Forces declared their principled position against any American and Israeli aggression targeting Muslim countries, citing the objective of establishing a “Greater Israel” and “changing the Middle East.” The statement asserts that the continuation of aggression against Iran, Palestine, Gaza, Iraq, and Lebanon, which they characterize as implementation of a “Zionist plan,” threatens the entire Islamic nation. In response to these developments, the Houthis affirmed their commitment to maintaining regional security and halting aggression.
Conditions for Direct Military Intervention
The statement clearly delineates five key points, with the fourth point specifying the triggers for direct military intervention. The Houthis stated their “finger is on the trigger” under the following circumstances:
- The formation of any new alliances between America and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the axis of jihad and resistance.
- The utilization of the Red Sea for hostile operations by America and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran or any Muslim country, which the Houthis vow to prevent.
- The continuation of escalation against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the axis of jihad and resistance, as dictated by the evolving theater of military operations.
Demands for De-escalation and Stability
Beyond outlining their own potential actions, the Houthis presented several demands aimed at de-escalation and regional stability. They called for an immediate response to international diplomatic efforts to halt aggression against Iran and other axis countries, labeling such actions as “brutal, unjust, and unjustified” and harmful to global and regional stability and the global economy. Furthermore, they demanded an immediate cessation of aggression against Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq, and an end to the “unjust siege on Yemen.” The implementation of the “Gaza Agreement” and the fulfillment of its obligations regarding the Palestinian people’s humanitarian and legitimate rights were also stressed.
Warnings Against Tightening Siege on Yemen
The Yemeni Armed Forces also issued a stern warning against any “unjust measures” aimed at tightening the existing siege on the Yemeni people. They reaffirmed that their military operations are directed solely at the Israeli and American enemy to thwart the “Zionist plan” and do not target any Muslim people. The statement concluded with expressions of support for Yemen’s freedom, pride, and independence, and a wish for victory for Yemen and all free people of the nation.
The Houthi statement represents a significant escalation in rhetoric, positioning the group as a direct actor in the broader regional confrontation, contingent on specific actions by the United States and Israel.
