On September 12, during the visit of the Turkish delegation led by special representative Serdar Kılıç to Armenia, Kılıç presented an ornate silver plate to Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan. The gift was valued at 101,228 AMD, and Kostanyan handed it over to the Corruption Prevention Commission, as officials are required to surrender any gift exceeding 60,000 AMD to the state or community.
The silver plate appears highly symbolic, since in recent years Armenia’s top leadership has consistently demonstrated a readiness to hand over the country’s interests to Turkey on a silver platter. Perhaps, it suggests that yet another serving is being prepared.
