LOS ANGELES (Azat TV) – Hollywood stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have deepened speculation about their on-screen chemistry in the upcoming ‘Wuthering Heights’ adaptation, with Robbie gifting Elordi a set of intimately designed matching rings and both actors openly discussing their ‘mutual obsession’ while filming. The gifts and comments come as the film’s 2026 release approaches, generating significant buzz around their portrayal of the iconic literary lovers, Catherine and Heathcliff.
The unique signet rings, created by UK designer Cece Fein-Hughes of Cece Jewellery London, feature intricate details that pay homage to Emily Brontë’s classic novel. Each hand-enamelled gold ring showcases two skeleton skulls entangled in thorns, locked in an ‘eternal’ embrace, a visual intended to reflect the enduring bond between souls. Engraved with the initials of Cathy and Heathcliff, the doomed lovers played by Robbie and Elordi, the rings also bear the inscription ‘1847-2026,’ marking the year of the novel’s publication and the new film’s release.
Fein-Hughes shared details on her social media, stating that the rings were an honor to create for the stars, celebrating their time filming together. She highlighted that the words inscribed on the rings, ‘Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,’ were penned by Brontë herself, adding to the romantic symbolism. According to Fein-Hughes, the piece gifted to Jacob by Margot features two entwined skeletons in the exact pose of the iconic film poster, serving as ‘a quiet reminder that love never truly dies.’
Elordi’s ‘Obsession’ and Robbie’s Praise
The intimate gift follows Jacob Elordi’s recent remarks about his intense admiration for Margot Robbie during production. Speaking to US entertainment platform Fandango, Elordi, 28, candidly stated, ‘We have a mutual obsession.’ He elaborated on his efforts to remain close to the Academy Award-nominated actress, 35, at all times on set. ‘If you have the opportunity to share a film set with Margot Robbie, you’re going to make sure you’re within 5 to 10 metres at all times,’ he said, expressing awe at her consistent professionalism: ‘Watching how she drinks tea, how she eats her food, how she does it. When is it going to slip? When is the thing going to come undone? And, it never comes undone.’
Margot Robbie, in turn, has voiced her high regard for Elordi. An international publication reported that Robbie believes Elordi would make a ‘very good boyfriend’ due to his thoughtful gestures on set. She was particularly impressed when Elordi filled her dressing room with roses on Valentine’s Day, accompanied by a meaningful and dramatic note written from the perspective of his character, Heathcliff. This gesture, according to Robbie, made her ‘weak at the knees’ during some of their more tender scenes.
Filming Challenges and Role Doubts
Robbie also opened up to British Vogue about the challenges of returning to work just three months after welcoming her son in October 2024 with husband Tom Ackerley. She admitted to fears about shooting ‘Wuthering Heights’ so soon postpartum and discussed the film’s steamy scenes, clarifying that while many viewers might expect ‘very, very raunchy’ content given director Emerald Fennell’s previous work on ‘Saltburn,’ they might be surprised by the film’s actual tone. She credited Fennell with helping to ‘relieve her anxiety’ during the production.
Meanwhile, Jacob Elordi confessed to Vogue Australia that he harbored significant doubts about his casting as Heathcliff. He acknowledged agreeing with online criticism, including a viral post highlighting that a ‘major plot point [in the book] is that he was subjected to racist abuse by his adopted family.’ Elordi stated that he experienced ‘the greatest amount of doubt I’ve probably ever had’ when Fennell offered him the role, admitting he questioned his own capabilities, thinking, ‘I don’t know if I’m good enough.’
Anticipation for the New Adaptation
Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of ‘Wuthering Heights’ has been described by the director herself as ‘primal and sexual,’ promising a fresh take on Brontë’s enduring tale of passionate and tragic love. The film is poised to be a significant cinematic event in 2026, with the unique bond forged between its lead actors, both on and off-screen, adding an intriguing layer to the promotional narrative.
The public display of affection and mutual admiration between Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, highlighted by the bespoke rings and their candid remarks, strategically amplifies interest in ‘Wuthering Heights’ by intertwining their real-life professional chemistry with the intense emotional landscape of their on-screen characters.
