Mazda 6e

Mazda’s 6e, introduced in early 2025, represents its second entry into the EV market. Built on a versatile platform supporting both all-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, the 6e demonstrates Mazda’s adaptable approach. The 6e features a distinctive exterior, blending familiar Mazda design with unique elements. A broad, pentagonal grille with a rhomboid pattern and LED light strip defines the front fascia. Illuminated side rhomboids serve as DRLs and charging status indicators.

The car’s profile suggests a sports sedan, with flared wheel arches and sharp lines, while the sloping roofline creates a fastback silhouette. A retractable spoiler deploys above 56 mph (90 kph). Frameless windows and 19-inch alloy wheels further enhance the sporty aesthetic. The interior emphasizes premium materials, including suede on the seats, doors, and dashboard. A 14.6-inch touchscreen controls infotainment and HVAC, while a 10.2-inch screen serves as the instrument panel, complemented by a head-up display. Trunk space is limited (330 liters), but a 70-liter frunk adds storage.

Two powertrain options are available: a rear-wheel-drive 258 PS (254 hp) motor with a 68.8 kWh LFP battery, and an optional all-wheel-drive 244 PS (241 hp) motor with an 80 kWh Li-Ion battery. Both support rapid DC and 11 kW AC charging.

The Mazda 6e signifies Mazda’s serious entry into the EV segment. Combining distinctive design, a versatile platform, and a focus on interior quality, Mazda aims to attract buyers seeking a stylish electric sedan. The key question is whether the 6e can compete effectively against established EV rivals and whether its dual-platform strategy proves successful.
