SINGAPORE (Azat TV) – Residents in Pasir Ris, Singapore, were met with an extraordinary sight on the morning of March 3, 2026, as two horses trotted calmly through suburban streets, drawing widespread attention and becoming an instant social media sensation. The unexpected equine escapade, which briefly halted traffic and prompted police response, concluded with the safe return of both animals to their stables.
The incident unfolded when a brown, or bay-colored, horse and a white horse, believed to be from the nearby Gallop Stable in Pasir Ris Park, made their way onto public roads. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the pair along a park connector, drifting past cars on Elias View and Pasir Ris Drive 3. Videos circulating widely on social media captured the horses strolling, grazing by the roadside, and even galloping down the middle of the road as motorists followed cautiously behind.
Pasir Ris Residents Witness Unusual Equine Escapade
The unusual parade began around 11:20 AM when the Singapore Police Force received a call for assistance. Residents like Salva, who spotted one of the horses around 11:40 AM, described it as ‘scared, neighing and walking in circles,’ leading her neighbor to contact authorities. Another resident, Ken Ku, 35, initially thought the horses were undergoing training when he heard galloping sounds on his way to a McDonald’s outlet. Jasper Chew, residing at Riverina Walk, heard neighing outside his house and later observed police officers cordoning off the area after his neighbors offered the horses apples and bananas.
The sight was particularly striking given Singapore’s highly urbanized environment, offering an unexpected glimpse of countryside life in a bustling suburb. The incident’s timing also added a unique cultural note, as March 3 marked ‘chap goh mei’, the 15th day of the Chinese New Year, ushering in the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac.
Gallop Stable Horses Safely Returned After Morning Adventure
Upon receiving the call, Singapore Police Force officers responded promptly, working in conjunction with staff from Gallop Stable. Footage showed police cars surrounding the brown horse, with a red rope gently looped around its neck to guide it. Both horses were successfully secured and returned to their stables ‘without incident,’ the Singapore Police Force confirmed to Mothership. Gallop Stable later shared on Instagram that their ‘two of our horses decided to explore the neighbourhood but we’re happy to share they are safely back home, calm and well.’
Gallop Stable, which has been operating in Pasir Ris since 2003, offers various horse-related activities, including riding lessons and trail rides. This is not the first time horses have been seen roaming in Pasir Ris; a similar incident involving three horses was reported by citizen journalism website Stomp in 2016.
A Day of Hooves and Happenings in Pasir Ris
The incident quickly became a talking point across Singapore, with many residents expressing delight and surprise at the spectacle. The widespread sharing of videos and photos on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram underscored the public’s fascination with such an out-of-the-ordinary event in a meticulously ordered city-state. While the horses’ brief foray into the urban landscape was a minor disruption, it provided a memorable moment of unexpected charm and levity for the community.
The swift and coordinated response by authorities and stable staff to safely retrieve the horses highlights effective urban management, even when faced with highly unusual circumstances like large animals roaming city streets.
