INDIA (Azat TV) – Scaler School of Technology (SST) has officially launched a pioneering four-year undergraduate program in AI and Business, a fully residential course designed to equip students for the rapidly evolving landscape at the intersection of advanced technology and entrepreneurship. Announced on March 5, 2026, this program is positioned as a first-of-its-kind offering in India, addressing the critical need for professionals who can bridge the gap between technical expertise and commercial acumen in the artificial intelligence era.

The curriculum integrates a robust foundation in computer science with hands-on business creation, culminating in a mandatory final-year requirement for every student to build and attempt to scale an AI-driven startup. This initiative comes as AI tools are significantly lowering the barriers to developing software and launching products, enabling individuals to prototype in weeks what once required large teams and months of development.

Bridging AI and Entrepreneurship in Modern Business

Traditional undergraduate education often compartmentalizes engineering and business disciplines, with engineering focusing on technical execution and business emphasizing strategy and operations. However, as AI continues to reshape industries, this separation is becoming increasingly misaligned with the demands of modern company building. The Scaler program aims to rectify this by training students to understand how AI systems work, identify real-world problems, and design scalable solutions from the undergraduate level itself.

Anshuman Singh, Dean of Scaler School of Technology and former tech lead at Facebook’s Messenger, emphasized the transformative impact of AI. “AI has fundamentally compressed the time it takes to build. What earlier required large teams and months of development can now be prototyped by a single individual in weeks,” Singh stated. He highlighted that while access to tools is crucial, builders must also comprehend system mechanics, identify valuable problems, and translate technology into sustainable businesses. The program’s philosophy moves beyond theory, placing students in real-world scenarios where they build, ship, engage with users, and take ownership of outcomes.

Curriculum Emphasizes Real-World Building and Ownership

The four-year program follows a progressive structure, increasing student responsibility and real-world exposure annually. The first year establishes strong foundations in programming, data structures, mathematics for AI, communication, economics, and structured thinking, applied through hands-on projects. The second year delves into production-grade systems, AI models, data pipelines, and go-to-market fundamentals.

By the third year, students concentrate on product strategy, metrics, growth levers, and real-world constraints, often collaborating with early-stage startups like Xspecies (developing India’s first commercially available humanoid robots) within the Scaler Innovation Lab. The fourth year places students in ‘Founder Mode,’ requiring each to build an AI startup from idea to minimum viable product (MVP) and, where possible, achieve early traction and revenue. Startup creation is a core academic requirement, not an optional endeavor.

Industry Backing and Diverse Career Pathways

Students enrolled in the AI and Business program operate within the Scaler Innovation Lab, gaining exposure to and mentorship from founders, operators, and engineers from leading companies such as OpenAI, Google, NVIDIA, Razorpay, and McKinsey. Scaler School of Technology has allocated dedicated pre-seed capital to support student-led ventures and provides access to demo days and investor networks across the vibrant startup ecosystem.

For those opting for industry roles, SST leverages the broader Scaler network, which includes over 1,200 hiring partners from technology and product organizations like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. Students pursuing entrepreneurship also retain access to deferred placement support, allowing them to explore startup building without sacrificing traditional career opportunities.

Early cohorts at SST have already demonstrated significant impact, with students building AI startups generating over Rs. 30 Lakhs in revenue, securing national innovation grants of Rs. 25 Lakhs from Samsung, participating in global engineering competitions, and interning with top technology firms like Apple. Admissions to the AI and Business program involve a holistic process, combining an entrance assessment with interviews evaluating curiosity, problem-solving ability, and an ownership mindset, with an intake capped at 200 students for the current year.

The launch of Scaler’s AI and Business program underscores a critical shift in higher education, adapting to the immediate demands of an AI-driven economy by integrating technical depth with entrepreneurial practice. This model not only addresses the skill gap but also aims to cultivate a new generation of innovators capable of building and scaling companies in India’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.
