Greek airline SKY Express has launched a new route connecting Athens and Yerevan, strengthening ties between Greece and Armenia. Flights from Athens International Airport to Zvartnots International Airport will operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Sergey Avetisyan, General Manager of “Armenia International Airports” CJSC, highlighted the significance of this new route for enhancing business and cultural relations between the two countries. “We congratulate our partners on this milestone. We hope this marks the beginning of a long-term partnership, offering passengers new destinations and increased travel options,” said Avetisyan.
Gerasimos Skaltsas, Chief Commercial Officer of SKY Express, emphasized that the new route not only meets the growing demand for travel to Yerevan but also strengthens cultural and economic ties between Greece and Armenia. “Our goal is to bridge our two countries, inviting travelers from Armenia to explore Greece’s rich heritage and beauty through our extensive domestic and international network,” said Skaltsas.
Christos Soufianopoulos, Greece’s Ambassador to Armenia, welcomed the launch of the route, stressing its importance in fostering closer ties between the two nations. He noted that the new route would boost trade, tourism, and people-to-people connections between the two friendly countries. The ambassador also suggested that Athens and Yerevan airports could become travel hubs, linking other destinations across Europe, Asia, and beyond.
