Soldier Narek Grigoryan Found Dead; Criminal Investigation Launched, Says Investigative Committee

On November 13, at approximately 09:20, the body of Armenian Defense Ministry service member Narek Khachatur Grigoryan was discovered hanging in the Armenian MOD’s Military Police disciplinary unit.

According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, a criminal case was opened on the same day under Article 522, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code. A special investigative team has been formed to look into the incident.

The preliminary investigation has included an examination of the scene, an external examination of the body, the questioning of over twenty individuals, the seizure of surveillance footage from the disciplinary unit’s cameras, and numerous forensic examinations, including a medical examination of the body.

As of now, the Investigative Committee has not released information about the potential causes or circumstances surrounding the case, as the investigation continues to gather facts. Comprehensive investigative procedures will be followed to ensure a thorough and objective assessment of all aspects of the case.
