New Standards in Voluntary Teacher Certification: Salary Increases and Bonus System

school

Armenia’s public education sector has undergone a significant revision in teacher salaries and bonus systems based on the outcomes of voluntary certification exams. According to results from 2024, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan issued an order approving the list of certified teachers eligible for salary increases and bonuses.

Teachers achieving scores between 60% and 69% on the certification exam will now receive a base monthly salary of 200,000 AMD for a full-time position. These revised salary rates will be effective starting January 1, 2025.

For teachers who achieved higher scores, additional bonuses have been set, applied to the increased base salary:

  • Those scoring 70-79% will receive a 30% bonus.
  • Teachers with scores of 80-89% will receive a 40% bonus.
  • Those scoring 90-100% will benefit from a 50% bonus.

This updated approach aims to incentivize professional development and reward outstanding performance among educators.

The ministry has also approved lists of individuals who are not currently employed as teachers but are eligible for the new salaries and bonuses upon being hired in public educational institutions. For these individuals, the five-year bonus eligibility period begins on the date of certification.

This initiative by the Ministry of Education is designed to enhance the quality of public education and acknowledge the pivotal role of teachers. Furthermore, teachers who scored between 0% and 59% are given the opportunity to participate in future certification processes to improve their outcomes.
