LAS VEGAS (Azat TV) – The Vancouver Canucks concluded their pre-Olympic schedule with a 5-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The defeat marked the Canucks’ third consecutive loss as they head into the 2026 Winter Olympic break. Despite the team’s struggles, veteran center Teddy Blueger delivered a standout performance, contributing two assists and anchoring the Canucks’ most effective offensive line before departing to represent Latvia at the upcoming Olympics in Italy.
Blueger’s contributions were pivotal in both of Vancouver’s goals. In the second period, after the Golden Knights had taken a 2-0 lead, Blueger was instrumental in forcing a turnover in the defensive zone alongside Conor Garland. This led to Liam Öhgren springing the Canucks on the attack, culminating in Elias Pettersson (D) scoring the team’s first goal. Later in the same period, Blueger recorded his second assist on Pierre-Olivier Joseph’s goal, which narrowed Vegas’s lead to 3-2.
Blueger-Öhgren-Garland Line Shines for Canucks
The line featuring Blueger, Liam Öhgren, and Conor Garland, often referred to as the ‘B.O.G.’ line, was consistently highlighted as the Canucks’ most impactful unit throughout the game. According to CanucksArmy, this trio was ‘consistently buzzing and generating chances in the offensive zone.’ The Hockey News noted that the line ‘repeated their efforts tonight, generating some jump early on in a scoreless first period while also generating a fair amount of chances for the Canucks.’
Collectively, the B.O.G. line combined for four points, eight shots, and 12 shot attempts against the Golden Knights. Their strong play was not an isolated incident, as The Province reported the line had accumulated nine points in their last two games. Blueger also demonstrated his reliability in the faceoff circle, winning 53 percent of his draws, further solidifying his role as a key two-way center for Vancouver.
Canucks Players Head to 2026 Winter Olympics
Following the loss, the Canucks will now enter the Olympic break, with several players heading to Italy to represent their respective countries at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Teddy Blueger is among them, joining Anri Ravinskis to represent Latvia. Other Canucks players participating include Elias Pettersson (Sweden), Kevin Lankinen (Finland), Filip Hronek (Czechia), David Kämpf (Czechia), and Lukas Reichel (Germany).
The Canucks will resume their NHL schedule on February 25, when they are set to face the Winnipeg Jets at Rogers Arena. With an 18-33-6 record, placing them 32nd in the NHL, the break offers a chance for some players to compete on the international stage, while the team as a whole looks to regroup.
Blueger’s consistent two-way play and offensive contributions, particularly in a losing effort for the Canucks, underscore his value as he transitions to the international stage. His ability to elevate his line’s performance and contribute offensively, even amidst team-wide struggles, positions him as a crucial asset for Team Latvia, highlighting how individual excellence can emerge even when team results falter.
