The Football Association (FA) has launched an investigation into Tottenham Hotspur and their supporters following alleged incidents of fan misconduct during the thrilling London derby against Chelsea on December 8, 2024.

Chelsea’s 4-3 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was marred by repeated instances of objects being thrown at Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer as he prepared to take corner kicks. Among the items reportedly hurled were paper balls crafted from match programmes.

The FA is reviewing referee reports, video footage, and fan-submitted clips to assess the severity of the incidents and determine possible sanctions against Tottenham. Such behaviour raises questions about fan conduct and stadium safety, issues the FA has been working to address across the league.

Despite the hostility, Palmer remained composed, delivering a stellar performance by scoring twice and helping Chelsea secure a dramatic victory.

This investigation adds to a challenging week for Tottenham Hotspur. The club’s second consecutive Premier League defeat compounds mounting issues, including injuries and suspensions, that have put manager Ange Postecoglou under pressure.
