Toyota’s “Wave Maker” Blue Reserved for 2026 TRD Pro Models

  • Toyota introduces its 11th exclusive TRD Pro color: Wave Maker.
  • The shade will be available only on TRD Pro versions of the 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia.
  • Wave Maker was inspired by extreme terrains and even outer space, according to Toyota’s Calty Design team.
  • The color is brighter than Heritage Blue with turquoise highlights.
  • Wave Maker will debut on 2026 models, with availability starting late 2025.

Why Wave Maker Is Reserved for TRD Pro Buyers

Toyota has unveiled a new bold color—Wave Maker—for its TRD Pro lineup. Created by the Calty Design Research studio, the new color is the eleventh in a series of exclusive hues designed for Toyota’s off-road focused trims.

Inspired by the Unknown

Unlike earlier earthy tones like Terra and Mudbath, Wave Maker draws from themes of exploration and uncharted territory. “With Wave Maker, we were inspired by extreme terrains and even beyond Earth,” said Benjamin Jimenez, General Manager of Calty’s Ann Arbor facility. The color aims to evoke imagery of glacial depths and futuristic adventure.

Where and When It Will Be Available

Wave Maker will be an option on 2026 model-year TRD Pro editions of the 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia. While Toyota hasn’t specified a separate price for the color, additional charges between $350 and $475 are likely.

Color Appeal With a Premium Barrier

Although visually similar to Toyota’s Heritage Blue, Wave Maker boasts a more vibrant and aqua-like finish. Unfortunately, it will be limited to the most expensive TRD Pro trims—starting at around $67,000—putting it out of reach for many buyers. Toyota seems to be leveraging exclusivity to appeal to deep-pocketed enthusiasts.
