Body of Russian Soldier from 102nd Military Base Found in Gyumri

On January 25, a tragic incident occurred in the city of Gyumri, Shirak region. At approximately 5:20 PM, Russian citizen Vitaly Shevchenko, 35, reported to the Shirak Regional Operational Management Center of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs that a body had been found hanging in a house on Aram Khachaturian Street in Gyumri.

Armenia’s police and investigators, led by Agasi Isahakyan from the Shirak Regional Investigative Department, arrived at the scene.

The body of Alexey Yampolskin, a 23-year-old Russian citizen, was discovered hanging from a wardrobe door with an electrical cable. According to the preliminary forensic examination, no signs of violence were found on the body.

A criminal case has been initiated under the provisions of suicide or attempted suicide. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the cause of death.

According to journalist Gagik Shamshyan, both the deceased and the individual who reported the incident were servicemen stationed at the Russian 102nd Military Base in Armenia.
