Over 1,000 Armenian trucks are currently stuck at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russia-Georgia border. According to the Traffic Management Center of North Ossetia, a total of 3,608 vehicles are currently queued to cross the checkpoint, of which 1,057 belong to Armenian transport companies.
Despite the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway being officially open to all vehicles, the heavy traffic congestion persists. The long queues at the checkpoint continue to pose significant challenges for Armenian freight companies, leading to delays and increased costs.
These ongoing traffic jams highlight the strategic importance of the Upper Lars checkpoint for Armenia and the challenges faced in cargo transportation. Addressing these issues remains a critical concern for businesses and government bodies alike.
