Varazdat Lalayan, a member of Armenia’s men’s weightlifting team, world and European champion, and Olympic silver medalist, has been named the winner of the “Audience Favorite” category in the “Best in Sports” competition. The results of the online voting were announced by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MESCS).
Lalayan received 1,778 votes, securing first place. Gor Sahakyan, another prominent weightlifter, came in second with 1,567 votes, while wrestler Malkhas Amoyan rounded out the top three with 489 votes.
Voting in the “Audience Favorite” category was conducted via a dedicated Telegram channel created for this purpose. Over the course of five days, more than 6,100 users participated in the voting process. Each user was allowed to vote only once, ensuring the transparency and fairness of the competition.
A total of 15 athletes competed for the “Audience Favorite” title. The winner will receive a commemorative gift and a certificate of recognition, celebrating their achievement and popularity among fans.
