Ronaldo Nazário, in a YouTube interview with Romário, discussed the Brazilian national team’s strategy, emphasizing the need to build a system around Neymar and Vinicius according to EFE. “Neymar is a crucial pillar. Vinícius Júnior is also a crucial pillar. We have two great players. We have to start there, find a way for the team to play for them,” Ronaldo stated.

He believes both Neymar, currently recovering from a serious knee injury, and Vinicius need “more freedom” within the national team to replicate their club form. Ronaldo suggests the team’s structure must be tailored to maximize their strengths.

Regarding Neymar, Ronaldo acknowledged his quality “compensates” for the “structural problems” plaguing the national team and Brazilian football in general. “Neymar is a figure who inspires youngsters, who has a lot of personality on the pitch, takes risks, tries, isn’t afraid of tackles, and scores goals. I hope he returns strong because if he’s well, Brazil will find its direction,” he said. Neymar’s leadership and influence on the team are undeniable, and his return to peak form is crucial for Brazil’s success.

On Vinicius, Ronaldo highlighted his “crazy” performances at Real Madrid but noted his struggles to replicate that form for Brazil. He attributed this discrepancy to coaching, stating that the manager, currently Dorival Júnior, is responsible for “finding the best positions and the best players.” Ronaldo believes the coach’s tactical approach and player management are key to unlocking Vinicius’s potential within the national setup.

Ronaldo also advocated for a foreign coach for Brazil, arguing that Brazilian coaches are currently “two steps below the world level.” He praised Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras’ Portuguese coach, as a “good coach.” This suggestion reflects a broader debate about the direction of Brazilian football and whether external perspectives are needed to elevate the national team. Ronaldo’s comments have sparked discussion among fans and pundits, with some agreeing that a fresh approach could be beneficial, while others defend the capabilities of Brazilian coaches.

Finally, Ronaldo reiterated his ambition to become president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in the future, promising “efficient management” and increased investment in developing young Brazilian talent. He envisions the CBF as “Brazil’s most beloved company” and aims to make football a transformative force in the country. While his intentions are clear, he faces potential obstacles and competition in any future bid for the presidency.
