The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia (MIA) officially launched a new online platform, elections.mia.gov.am, on March 12, designed to provide public access to voter lists for the upcoming local self-government (LSG) elections. The Ministry reports that the data published on the platform is current as of March 10, 2025, and includes information on citizens eligible to vote in the March 30 elections in Gyumri community of Shirak region and Parakar community of Armavir region.
Online Accessibility and Elimination of Paper Notifications
The launch of the new platform marks a significant step towards the digitalization of electoral processes and ensuring public transparency. The MIA emphasizes that this initiative aligns with the amendments made to the Electoral Code on September 10, 2024, according to which paper notifications will no longer be provided to voters. This change aims to modernize the notification process and reduce administrative costs, making voter information more readily accessible online.
User Features and Data Access on the New Platform
The elections.mia.gov.am website offers citizens several convenient tools to find their data in the voter lists. Users have the option to either search for their name in the published lists or download the complete lists for further review. This significantly simplifies the process for voters to verify their registration and contributes to greater citizen engagement in the electoral process, enhancing accessibility and convenience for voters.
Additional Features on the CEC Website
The MIA also informs that voters can utilize the official website of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) – specifically the “Voter Register for LSG Elections 30.03.2025” and “Voter Lists” sections. The CEC website provides an additional feature allowing users to view the address of their polling station on a map through the CEC LSG Voter Register search tool. This functionality is particularly useful for those who wish to determine the location of their polling station in advance, further improving voter preparedness and participation.
Transparency and Public Trust
The launch of elections.mia.gov.am is viewed as an important measure aimed at increasing the transparency of electoral processes and enhancing the level of public trust in elections in Armenia. Online access to voter lists allows citizens to more easily and quickly verify their data, as well as monitor the electoral process. This initiative by the Ministry is expected to contribute to strengthening public confidence in elections and upholding democratic values by providing greater transparency and accessibility to crucial electoral information.
