The Armenian government approved the 2024 winter draft during its session on November 21. The draft will begin on November 25 and will last until January 31, 2025.
The draft applies to male citizens who turn 18 by December 31, 2024, or those whose previous deferment of military service expires within the same period.
The draft also allows for voluntary participation by female citizens who expressed their willingness to serve mandatory military service before October 1, 2024, as well as male individuals who applied voluntarily.
By January 31, 2025, soldiers who have completed their mandatory or alternative military service will be discharged.
The 2024 winter draft is a critical measure to maintain military preparedness. The inclusion of both mandatory and voluntary service options ensures flexibility while strengthening the country’s defense system.
