With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), an innovative application that converts Armenian text into spoken language was officially unveiled in Yerevan. Designed to enhance social inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities, the tool was developed by the NGO \u201cAgenda for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities\u201d as part of the \u201cSocial Protection, Inclusion, and Empowerment\u201d program implemented by Democracy International.<\/p>\n
This application allows individuals with vision or communication difficulties to access computers, review documents, and listen to natural-sounding Armenian speech. During the event, John Allelo, USAID Mission Director in Armenia, emphasized that this tool is not just a technological solution but a testament to a collective commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all.<\/p>\n
The application\u2019s uses extend to educational platforms, public services, banking systems, and assistive technologies, creating pathways for greater inclusion and independence. Program leader Lisbeth Zoneveld noted that the initiative aims to improve accessibility in public services and promote the use of assistive tools for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n
The event included a panel discussion on the role of technology in social protection, as well as a tech expo titled \u201cAccessibility and Inclusion,\u201d showcasing innovative solutions from other organizations.
