Despite the Prime Minister’s statements, the government has been unable to finish this crucial infrastructure over the past six years, a project that has received numerous investments and repeated promises of completion.<\/p>\n
The completion of the North-South road could significantly boost Armenia’s strategic importance in the region by connecting the south with the north and improving transport accessibility. However, despite the project\u2019s significance, the road is still unfinished, with various issues accumulating, including funding shortages, construction quality concerns, and delays.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Pashinyan emphasized the importance of cooperation with the EIB in road construction, energy, and water sector projects. Teresa Czerwi\u0144ska, in turn, indicated that the EIB is ready to support Armenia\u2019s government in implementing strategic priorities.<\/p>\n
Originally envisioned as a regionally significant infrastructure project, the “North-South” project highlights systemic issues within state management. These challenges manifest not only in budgetary and funding concerns but also in project execution and construction management.<\/p>\n
Another government initiative, the “Peace Crossroads” project, is also touted as a priority but, like its predecessor, risks becoming a protracted, unfinished endeavor with no tangible results.
