The Yerevan Municipality has announced the installation of rubber barriers starting November 22 to enhance traffic control and reduce congestion in several key streets of the city. This initiative aims to regulate traffic flow and improve compliance with new traffic restrictions.
Myasnikyan Avenue: Barriers will be installed at the intersection of Myasnikyan and Saralanji Avenues to ensure adherence to newly introduced traffic flow regulations.
Heratsi Street: Barriers will also be placed on Heratsi Street at the tunnel splits leading to Koryun Street and Khanjyan Street to manage vehicle movement and prevent bottlenecks.
Drivers traveling via Heratsi Street toward Koryun or Charents Streets are advised to pre-align with the appropriate traffic lanes to avoid congestion. The barriers are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow. These adjustments aim to enhance the efficiency of the city’s urban traffic infrastructure.
The use of rubber barriers aligns with modern urban planning strategies, emphasizing the importance of proactive traffic flow management and congestion reduction. Such measures can indirectly promote the use of public transportation by making private vehicle traffic more controlled and less chaotic. The municipality’s explicit guidance for drivers to follow the new lane designations reflects the importance of public awareness in ensuring the success of such initiatives. The effectiveness of these measures depends on drivers’ short-term adaptation to the new system and their willingness to follow the revised traffic rules, if properly implemented and monitored.
