Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Kansas to Expand Cooperation

On January 22, Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, hosted a U.S. delegation led by David Allen, Deputy Ambassador to Armenia, and Major General Michael Venerdi, Commander of the Kansas National Guard. The meeting focused on expanding the multifaceted cooperation between Armenia and Kansas.

Minister Sargsyan welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of the recently formalized strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States, which was established in Washington. She highlighted the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ vital role in this collaboration.

Major General Venerdi noted that the 22-year history of cooperation between Armenia and Kansas has been dedicated to advancing the safety and well-being of citizens on both sides.

The discussions covered several key areas, including:

  • Disaster risk management, with a focus on collaboration with Armenia’s Rescue Service;
  • Educational initiatives, particularly in training and upskilling personnel;
  • Seismic risk management and refining the disaster management cycle to improve coordination among key stakeholders.

Additionally, the parties discussed plans to establish a unified operational management center in Armenia, modernize alert systems, and improve public awareness and communication.

Both sides agreed to further strengthen their partnership, aiming to enhance public safety, raise awareness, and promote shared interests.
