Background of Police Guard Establishment
The Armenian Police have initiated the establishment of a Police Guard, aimed at improving public order and ensuring citizen security. The necessity for creating the Guard is driven by both internal and external security challenges, which require effective law enforcement and rapid response mechanisms.
Meeting with Lithuanian Delegation
On March 4th, the Head of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aram Hovhannisyan, met with a delegation led by Viktoras Grabauskas, Commander of the Public Security Service of the Republic of Lithuania. The meeting addressed prospects for bilateral cooperation and opportunities for experience exchange.
Aram Hovhannisyan emphasized the importance of the friendly relations established between Armenia and Lithuania. He also noted the significance of the “Support to Legal Enforcement Bodies and Security Sector Reforms in Armenia” program, implemented by Latvia and Lithuania.
Police Guard Launch Timeframe Indicated
During the meeting, the Police Chief presented the progress in forming the Police Guard and indicated the planned launch timeframe. Although specific dates were not disclosed, it is clear that the work is in an active phase, and the Guard’s launch is expected in the near future. This marks a significant step towards modernizing and enhancing the effectiveness of the Armenian Police system.
Importance of International Experience
Viktoras Grabauskas expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the importance of experience exchange in such initiatives. He noted that the exchange of experience would contribute to improving the Police Guard implementation process and aligning it with international standards.
The parties agreed to continue effective cooperation and experience exchange in police reforms and the security sector. At the end of the meeting, Aram Hovhannisyan awarded Viktoras Grabauskas for cooperation.
