ID Card Pre-Registration Now Required for Armenian Citizens

The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that all citizens must pre-register online to obtain an ID card necessary for submitting their annual income tax declaration. The ministry emphasizes the importance of visiting the migration.e-gov.am platform, navigating to the “ID Card Issuance” section, selecting an available date and time, and then visiting the designated service point.

Alternative Options Available at Regional Offices

For residents outside Yerevan, regional service centers provide a live queue option. Citizens can approach any convenient territorial branch of the Passport and Visa Department (MQT), collect a ticket from the on-site terminal, and wait to be served. Importantly, the ministry notes that in the Tavush, Lori, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik regions, offices currently have low demand, meaning minimal or no waiting times for walk-in clients.

Important Notes on PIN, PUK Codes, and mID Activation

The ministry reminds citizens that the PIN and PUK codes of electronic chip cards are unique and provided exclusively to the cardholder. If lost, these codes cannot be recovered. However, if the codes are forgotten or misplaced, re-issuance of the ID card is not necessary. Instead, holders with valid ID cards can visit their mobile operator to activate their mobile electronic signature (mID) service.
