Customs Digitization: “Notification” System to Launch in January 2025

Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) has announced the full-scale implementation of the “Notification” electronic system in customs processes starting January 2025. This transformative initiative is designed to minimize physical interaction between customs officials and declarants, streamlining the process of goods declaration and clearance.

Under this new system, declarants and their representatives will no longer be required to visit customs service halls after submitting a declaration. Once a declaration is submitted, customs officers will receive an automated notification via the electronic system. Subsequently, the necessary customs operations will be conducted, and declarants will be informed of the release of goods electronically.

An added benefit of the system is its capability to handle additional requests for documents or information through the same electronic platform. This significantly reduces bureaucratic obstacles and enhances the transparency of customs procedures.

The rollout of the “Notification” system will be conducted in phases. During the initial phase, starting January 3, 2025, the system will cover goods transported via Zvartnots Airport’s cargo complex and postal or courier services. By the end of January, the system will also be implemented in customs offices located in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Sisian.

The SRC advises businesses and individuals to prepare for these changes. It recommends ensuring the payment of taxes and duties and attaching supporting documentation electronically before the registration of goods declarations to expedite the clearance process.
