In an official statement released by GB News, the network noted that Holmes is responding well to medical treatment. The channel has requested privacy on his behalf as he focuses on his recovery. Chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos described Holmes as a beloved member of the network’s family and expressed the organization’s full support during his absence. Fellow presenter Alex Armstrong is scheduled to fill in for Holmes on the GB News breakfast programme throughout the coming week.

Holmes, a native of Northern Ireland, has been a fixture of British television since the early 1990s.
