The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has announced an important update regarding identification cards. Citizens no longer need to reissue their ID cards if they lose their PIN and PUK codes. This information was released by the MIA, emphasizing that mobile electronic signatures can be activated with all types of ID cards, regardless of whether they have an electronic chip.
This change significantly simplifies the process of accessing public services for citizens. Previously, losing PIN and PUK codes necessitated reissuing the ID card, resulting in additional time and expense. Now, even if the codes are lost, citizens can visit a mobile operator’s office to activate their electronic signature (mID) and continue using online services without needing a new card.
This update is a crucial step towards developing a digital government system in Armenia. The easy activation of electronic signatures increases the accessibility of online services and encourages citizen participation in digital processes. The MIA’s initiative also reduces the administrative burden on government bodies related to ID card reissuance.
It’s clear that this change will contribute to greater efficiency in interactions between citizens and government agencies. The MIA continues to consistently take steps to make public services more accessible and effective.
