A New Chapter for the Screen Veteran
Longtime Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has officially entered a new personal milestone, announcing the birth of her first grandchildren. The 73-year-old actress revealed on The Morning Show on June 4 that her daughter, Clancy McWaters, and son-in-law, Luke, welcomed fraternal twin girls, Stevie Grace and Daisy Joy, on May 29.
McGranger, who spent over 32 years portraying the iconic character Irene Roberts before departing the show in 2025, expressed her delight during the broadcast. She shared that the family had intentionally kept the pregnancy private until the twins’ arrival, surprising many fans who were unaware of the upcoming addition to her family. “Our beautiful daughter Clancy and her husband Luke gave birth to Stevie Grace and Daisy Joy… twin girls!” she told hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.
Reflecting on Life Beyond the Soap Opera
The arrival of her granddaughters follows a period of significant professional transition for McGranger. Since concluding her tenure on Home and Away, she has been candid about the demands of the long-running soap. In a recent appearance on Sunrise, she admitted that while she values the memories and friendships formed over three decades, she does not miss the “grind” of production.
“It was a wonderful, wonderful time. It was nearly half of my life,” she remarked, noting that the schedule often involved 13-hour filming days. McGranger has since shifted her focus toward new creative ventures, including theatre production and her role in the reality series Shark!. Her transition into this new phase of life—which she previously joked about wanting to reach before “losing her marbles”—coincides with her involvement in the stage production The Grandparents Club, a project that now mirrors her real-life experience.
