As of December 27, 2025, at 18:40, several roads across Armenia are closed due to heavy snowfall and low visibility, sparking a travel advisory for residents and visitors alike. The section of the M-7 interstate highway that stretches from Lusaghbyur to the twisting turns of Jajur is currently impassable, reflecting the severe weather conditions impacting the region. Furthermore, in the Aragatsotn province, roadways leading from the “Amberd” high-altitude meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake are also shut down.

In Gyumri, as well as in the Ani and Amasia regions, snowstorms are creating challenging driving conditions. This reinforces the importance of exercising caution while on the road. Local authorities are urging drivers to equip their vehicles with winter tires, crucial for maintaining traction on icy surfaces. Snow is also reported in Kotayk, Tavush, the Vardenyats Pass, the Dilijan bends, and other urban areas.

Although the Rescue Service indicated that most of the roads in Armenia remain passable, they cautioned that conditions can change rapidly in certain areas. Travelers are advised to stay informed about current weather conditions and road statuses before heading out.

Understanding the realities of winter travel is essential, especially as the weather can shift without warning. Whether you are commuting to work or exploring the scenic landscapes of Armenia, keeping safety at the forefront should always be a priority. The snowy mountains and charming villages may beckon, but they come with risks that should not be underestimated.

In conclusion, being prepared and informed can make all the difference during the winter season. Take heed of the weather warnings, equip your vehicle appropriately, and monitor road conditions to ensure a safer journey.
