As Yerevan grapples with the aftermath of heavy snowfall, city officials are taking decisive action to ensure that the streets remain navigable. During a recent operational meeting at the Yerevan City Hall, the focus was on the snow removal efforts carried out over the weekend. Kamo Areyan, an advisor to the mayor, reported that city services were well-prepared and began their work promptly. “All night long, operations were supervised on-site by the heads of the administrative districts,” he stated, emphasizing the commitment of local leaders to the task at hand.

According to Areyan, the snow clearing continued into the daylight hours, with the most challenging work occurring overnight. “The hardest part, surprisingly, was not the continuous snowfall on the first night, but rather the sharp drop in temperature the following evening,” he explained. Areyan reassured residents that every effort was made to prevent any issues in the city, adding that the work would extend into the following day to clear sidewalks and yards.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan highlighted the city’s improved response this winter, stating, “This time, our reaction has been more efficient, and we were better prepared.” He underscored the importance of having the right equipment and personnel ready to maintain accessibility throughout the city.

As the snow continues to blanket Yerevan, the collaborative efforts of city officials and workers reflect a proactive approach to urban management during winter weather. The commitment to keeping the city safe and accessible is a testament to the resilience and dedication of the community.
