Armenian weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan delivered a stellar performance at the World Weightlifting Championship in Bahrain, securing the gold medal in the super-heavyweight category. Lalayan achieved a total of 467 kg (215 kg in snatch + 252 kg in clean and jerk), earning the prestigious title of world champion.
Competing in the same weight class, Armenian-born Gor Minasyan, representing Bahrain, lifted a total of 455 kg (210 kg in snatch + 245 kg in clean and jerk), finishing in 4th place.
Lalayan’s victory marks another significant achievement for Armenia, solidifying his position among the world’s top super-heavyweight lifters. While Minasyan narrowly missed a podium finish, he demonstrated strong results and delivered a competitive performance on the world stage.
