Ruben Amorim Claims First Premier League Win as Man Utd Thrash Everton 4-0

Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim marked his first Premier League win as Manchester United manager with a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton, extending his unbeaten start with the Red Devils to three matches.

After taking charge in November following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, Amorim has quickly shown signs of progress at Old Trafford. His Premier League debut saw United held to a 1-1 draw at Ipswich last Sunday, followed by a thrilling 3-2 Europa League win against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager, previously at Sporting Lisbon, has cautioned fans about a long road to title contention but delivered the most promising performance of his tenure against Everton. United’s clinical display helped them bounce back from a slow start to the season, with Amorim addressing key areas of concern in his lineup.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a deflected strike that set the tone for United’s dominance. Seven minutes later, Bruno Fernandes’ smart pass found Joshua Zirkzee, who capitalized on an Everton defensive error to net his first goal since August.

Rashford continued his excellent form, scoring his second goal just 20 seconds into the second half after a brilliant assist from Amad Diallo. The Netherlands striker Zirkzee struck again in the 64th minute, converting another Diallo assist to seal the 4-0 rout.

Despite the on-field success, tensions remain off the pitch as United fans protested against ticket price increases before the match. The banner reading “Stop Exploiting Loyalty” reflected dissatisfaction with club management. However, Amorim’s promising start provides a glimmer of hope, as the ninth-placed Red Devils look to climb back into contention.

While Amorim focuses on building consistency, Manchester United fans will hope the emphatic win against Everton marks the beginning of a revival. Meanwhile, attention shifts to the blockbuster clash between Liverpool and Manchester City, with title implications hanging in the balance.
