Lionel Messi, now leading Inter Miami’s ambitious project in Major League Soccer, hasn’t forgotten his deep connection with FC Barcelona. As the club celebrates its 125th anniversary, the Argentine legend shared his reflections on the club’s history and expressed his longing for a future reunion with the Blaugrana faithful.

In an exclusive chat with Mundo Deportivo, Messi revisited Barcelona’s most significant moments, from its foundation and iconic milestones to the unforgettable eras of Johan Cruyff, Pep Guardiola, and the legendary Champions League victories.

“There were moments I didn’t live through, like the club’s foundation and the construction of Camp Nou. But then there was Cruyff’s time as a player and coach, the first European Cup at Wembley in ’92, and Pep’s incredible years. I also remember Ronaldinho’s magic in 2005-06 and the treble under Luis Enrique,” Messi reminisced.

He praised the players who shaped Barça’s legacy, including Cruyff, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, and even Maradona, whose brief time left an indelible mark. “It’s a club that’s always had the best. From Cesar and Kubala to Rijkaard and Ronaldinho. I’m sure I’m forgetting people, but Barça is full of legends,” he added.

When reflecting on those who influenced him personally, Messi highlighted Pep Guardiola and Ronaldinho. “Pep, because of the incredible things we achieved together, and Ronaldinho, for how he welcomed me and helped me during my first moments with the first team. I’ll always be grateful to them,” Messi shared. He also gave a heartfelt mention to Tito Vilanova, saying, “We miss him so much.”

Finally, Messi addressed the fans, delivering a heartfelt message: “My message to Barça fans? I miss you a lot. I hope we can meet again soon. I hope you feel proud of being part of the best club in the world.”
