Montreal police (SPVM) have issued an active shooter alert for the Côte-des-Neiges borough following an ongoing police operation that began Monday morning. According to official reports, the incident commenced at approximately 11:35 a.m. near the intersection of Trans Island and De Courtrai Avenues.
SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant confirmed that one police officer has sustained injuries during the operation. As of 12:25 p.m., authorities stated that the situation remained unresolved, prompting a firm directive for residents to shelter in place and remain away from windows. Reports from the area indicate that guests at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, situated at De Courtrai Avenue and Décarie Boulevard, were instructed to seek cover in secure areas, including hotel freezers, as a safety precaution.
