Azerbaijan Builds 32 Power Plants in Occupied Artsakh: Exploiting Resources in Violation of International Law

Power Plants

Azerbaijan’s construction of power plants in Artsakh is yet another step in exploiting occupied territories and illegally utilizing natural resources. These actions not only violate fundamental principles of international law but also reflect Azerbaijan’s intention to establish a new status quo in the region.

Azerbaijani authorities are reportedly building 32 power plants in the occupied territories of the Republic of Artsakh, as announced by Emil Ibadov, a representative of “Green Energy Power Plant” LLC. According to Ibadov, the total capacity of these plants is projected to reach 270 megawatts.

It is noteworthy that these energy infrastructure projects are being carried out without the consent or involvement of the local population. This underscores Azerbaijan’s real intentions—solidifying control over the region under the guise of economic development.

The rhetoric surrounding “green energy” development cannot mask the fact that these initiatives aim to alter the demographic and economic landscape of the region. The construction of power plants appears to be part of a long-term strategy for establishing complete control over the area.

The international community must pay attention to these actions, as they infringe upon the rights of those displaced by conflict and hinder efforts toward lasting peace in the region.
